The “Association of Friends of Science Fiction” group of Spain (AACF), in partnership with Sol Katmandu Park & Resort, will host a special Cosplay charity event this weekend, with more than 26 entities in attendance. This is Project 145: Episode V, one driven by an AACF initiative aimed at promoting cultural activity centered around fantasy and science fiction, with the dual purpose of helping those in need.
The event will be held at Sol Katmandu Park & Resort during the weekend of 17 and 18 September beginning at 10:00h in the morning, and will focus on the Sci-Fi and Hobbies concepts. There will be activities, exhibitions, photocalls, demos, games, screenings, lectures and more (click here for a schedule of events). Among the most interesting children’s workshops, will be making magic wands and lightsabers, costumes, miniature galaxies, and more.
Here are the great exhibition highlights of the weekend:
- Exhibition museum of Sci-Fi themed collector’s items (pieces of large or giant size). It will be located in the Calvia room and costs 1 € per visit.
- Fantastic Barbecue: Saturday evening, Sol Katmandu Park & Resort and the AACF will host a delicious barbecue so attendees won’t miss a minute of fun! The price of the barbecue will be 12 € per person and includes a plate with several pieces of meat, an ear of corn and a drink.
- Screening of the documentary “I am your Father” by Toni Bestard and Marcos Cabotá beginning Saturday evening. Official screening of this documentary revolves around the figure of David Prowse, actor behind the mask of Darth Vader.
- Magic Breakfast: Sunday morning a themed breakfast will be served, featuring the Hogwarts Sorting Hat, in which participating children will be sorted into their very own Hogwarts Houses, and then awarded a diploma as “honorary” members of that house. Magic breakfast is 10 € per adult and 5 € per child.
AACF is an organization formed by fans of science fiction, which is a non-profit and great supporter of local charity. The activities and workshops that take place during the event will serve to raise funds for a children’s cause. You can learn more about this great organization on their website.
Admission to the event is free. Workshops, solidarity activities and access to the park’s attractions are available at an extra cost. All event attendees receive a 30% discount on Katmandu Park ticket packages.
Wear your costumes and don’t forget to share your pictures with us on social media. We look forward to welcoming you at an unforgettably magical weekend at Sol Katmandu Park & Resort!
